Death Valley, CA; Zion Canyon, UT; Bryce Canyon, UT

This is a sand storm we experienced long Utah Hwy 24 southwest of Green River, UT. We know it's not like having a Sanford Tornado, but it did make for some tough driving. Petroglyphs in Fruita Valley Utah. We were on our way from Bryce Nat. Park to Moab, UT when we spied these beside the road. Well, there was a sign--we didn't discover them on our own.

Camping at Bryce National Park was interesting. While we were snug in our van under a very large down quilt, a freezing rain covered all the trees--and us--with ice!

Penny trying to take in the panoramic wonders of Bryce Canyon. Notice the very fine oak walking stick. It works great.

A lovely arch under the Bryce Canyon HooDoos.

Here is Bryce National Park in all its glory.

The HooDoos in Bryce National Park.

Camping down in Zion Canyon. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing!

John is searching for water (beer?) atop the sand dunes in Death Valley.

Good ol' camper van turned 100,000 miles somewhere near Death Valley. We bought new break pads for her front wheels and she continues to leap round the canyons--happy camper!

Giant Sequoia National Monument

Here's a pic of some random tourist violating the park rule "stay on the sidewalk side of the fence". But it does give you a sense of how big these sequoias really are! Also, we can't figure out how to rotate the picture--sorry. And, as we were leaving the giant sequoias we saw this arial phenomenom. Think we should call Art Bell? It was strange and beautiful, but not really alien.

Yosemite National Park, April 13, 14, & 15

This is the view looking back from the Hwy 41 South Exit

This is Half Dome.
Yosemite was awesome--our necks are hurting from looking up all the time!
Wildlife was very tame.
The much advertised bears never appeared--guess this is for hauling off the bothersome ones.

Campsite in National Forest near Big Sur

Oh--here's John on a really nice Harley.  No we didn't buy him a motorcyle, but this really nice guy was happy to let John pose for the pic on his bike!

Sunday Brunch overlooking Big Sur.
Here is another picture of PCH at Big Sur.
We'll try to post more pictures soon.

Big Sur, CA on Apil 11, 2011

So here are some pictures of the Pacific Coast Highway (CA #1)--it is that little white line around the coast!  Of course part of it was washed out with the mud slides, so we're driving up and over the mountains to get around the missing part of #1--pretty awesome!
